Good and Bad, True and False
So, this blog has been overtly concerned with the subject of
the difficulties inherent in a two party system, which
essentially is based on the notion of opposing, but
more or less equal forces continually trying to get the
upper hand in some way. And I have been
not totally committed to discussing the issue because
of my particular concern of falling into blow-hardiness,
which is one of the basic issues that seems to be
created by a stupendously meaningless dichotomy, which
does not seem to be getting us any closer to solving
our very real public concerns. But I realized that, at
the heart of the issue is our inability to converse easily,
naturally, and effectively on issues of public concern.
So to put it simply, public discourse has eroded, over
time, and that has created a symptom which is -->
playing itself out in relation to this two party system,
because as the public discourse has eroded, the
meaningfulness of the artificial dichotomy that
has become tradition has in fact eroded more.
And therefore, there can only be one real meaningful
solution, which is that the sovereigns of this country,
who are the American people, must change this awkward
behavior, which they have allowed to occur.
I wish I could express an easy formula for making
that happen. But at the root there has to be a change
in the public capacity to have conversations and
dialog s and reach meaningful effective conclusions
on these issues. In order for this to occur, substantial
effort needs to be made.
