Who are we?

Well, I should think that this is a good question to avoid,
and anybody who would attempt to address it might
generally and realistically be considered a fool.

Clearly it is very similar to the question - Who am I ?
That is the classic, a peach in fact.  I don't plan on getting
into that, today.

Yes, well, the pivot is, what do you mean we?

And yes clearly that  pivot goes something like, family,
neighbor, community, city, county, state, nation, the world.

Yes, that is such a great question.  What do you mean
we..

Well, clearly, we are all part of these collections and possibly
even something greater than those.

But if we think about it the actions or connections by which we  kind
of confirm, affirm or cement those connection, that reality of we,
become pretty uniform going up or down the chain.

And that of course then makes that second question,
Who am I?, almost unavoidable.

Looking Deeper

And so,

Sometime ago, and I must digress to mention " briefly "
what I mean exactly by " sometime ago ".

What I mean is the " earth " or planet rotates and that
rotation does work, so what I mean is the earth has
done a bunch of work since then. It is kind of an
issue because the earth is doing the work for us, for
no visible pay  .....  (?)

Anyway, I had a friend and a collaborator who would
help me sort through murky situations.  Today you
might say he was a " computer " scientist, but
that was not the current terminology of that time.

His main repeated diagnosis was " there is no magic ".
This might be the ultimate understanding of computer
science, that there is no magic.

And yet, if we do look deeper. generally speaking, we do
find that magic.  The reason we find it is because
life is involved, or more precisely ( tricky word! ),
it is our humanity that is involved.  That reality
is the situation, and therefore, any situation produces,
what we often think of or refer to as " magic ".

Fear

Feeling really close to the end of this blog,
but I thought this might make some sense
in the over all context.

I am guessing that right now there might be
some issues relating to fear which also
reflects itself in other ways, such as uncertainty
or anxiety.

So, I just wanted to mention a point of view:

Proverbs 1,7:

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Might be relevant.

Disease

Well, this may or may not be off topic, however,
I feel it is relatively important to discuss this notion.

At he end of the day, or even at the beginning
of the day, when you have a disease that generally
means you are not comfortable.

Well, recognizing we are not comfortable is very
important to know,  because it requires us to
change our state, from our current state of discomfort.
In other words, it requires us to " become better ",
in some sense.  Like bowling the game is about
how much you improve.  Now following along with
that logic, if we are all in discomfort, then we all
must change or in fact " get better ".

Now, it is very helpful to consider that when we are doing
this together,  in some sense,  in a coordinated,
generous, kindly, and humble manner then this behavior will
make the process ( of getting better ) inevitably better and
easier for all of us.

Isms

I short of feel pressed to discuss " isms ".

Of course there are an ocean of " isms ", for example schism,
but I will not attempt to enumerate them as by the time
I complete the list there may be new ones.

Simply speaking an " ism " seems be be some concern
or focus which suggests what's generally going on is
not so good.  For example, with schism, you have a group
of people who are probably upset with another group of
people and so they go there own way. Obviously there are
other meanings, as well.

Now many people adhere in a general sense to
an " ism " at least from time to time, and some
people with equal or greater enthusiasm find certain
" isms ", well they just don't appreciate it.

But quite often there is a great deal of emotion attached
to one kind of " ism " or another.

On the whole is is very difficult to attack " isms " from
a general sense.  It is often difficult to attack a specific
"ism".  At any rate as they say : " people in glass houses "
should certainly behave themselves.

I'm sure a life time of work could go into the study
and enumeration of " isms ".
